Boron Nitride from Ammonia Borane and Alkali Amidoboranes and Its Features for Carbon Dioxide Capture

Herein, three boranes are studied as potential precursors of boron nitride (BN) and their carbon dioxide adsorption capacity is evaluated. The selected ammonia borane (AB, NH3BH3), lithium amidoborane (LiAB, LiNH2BH3), sodium (NaAB, NaNH2BH3), they pyrolyzed at four different temperatures. All the characterization techniques show formation BN from boranes. However, LiAB NaAB form hexagonal (h-BN) a lower temperature in comparison with AB. insertion alkali metal inside structure also evidenced. These materials interesting results when exposed to CO2 atmosphere. able adsorb nearly ambient conditions, best achieved samples that do not present crystalline structure. AB treated 600 °C uptakes 34 cm3 g−1 (66.8 mg g−1) 1.5 bar 30 °C. Considering developed this study nonporous, promising, opening new perspectives sorbents for CO2.
